Adaylar arasında drama dalında beş kategoride de adaylığı bulunan Downton Abbey, Breaking Bad ve True Detective dikkat çekerken, komedi dalında Modern Family ve Orange is The New Black, mini dizilerde AHS: Coven ve tv filminde ise The Normal Heart öne çıkıyor.
66.kez düzenlenecek ödül töreni bu yıl 25 Ağustos'ta Los Angeles'taki Nokia Tiyatrosu'nda gerçekleştirilecek. Geçtiğimiz yıllarda Neil Patrick Harris, Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel, Jane Lynch gibi isimlere sundurulan Emmy Ödül Töreni’ni; bu sene ise Seth Meyers sunacak.
