HFPA (Hollywood Yabancı Basın Birliği), Los Angeles Times'ın, grubun yaklaşık 20 yıldır siyahi bir üyesi olmadığını bildirmesinin ardından şubat ayından bu yana ateş altında yer alıyor. Rapordan bu yana HFPA, üyeliğin yapısını ve kurallarını elden geçirme sözü verdi ve birçok reforma imza attı. Ancak, NBC önümüzdeki yıl Altın Küre'yi yayınlamayacağını duyurdu. HFPA, sözlerini tutarsa gelecek yıl her şey normale dönebilir ama bu yıl, büyük ihtimalle tören ve canlı yayın olmayacak. HFPA adaylarını ise duyurduğu tarihte açıkladı.
